The Antioch Review continues its celebration of its 75th Anniversary with the publication of a second volume that highlights work published between 1961 and 2012.
This anniversary volume contains almost 600 pages of distinguished writing. There are famous essays, poems, and fiction from William Trevor, Allen Ginsberg, Elaine Showalter, Henry Louis Gates, Daniel Bell, Jorge Luis Borges, Clifford Geertz, Jorie Graham, and Edith Pearlman. Writers who early published in the magazine during that period are: Rick Moody, Aimee Bender, Jamie Quatro, David Means, T.C. Boyle and scores of poets.
Finally there are favorites of the editor, Robert S. Fogarty, who has been at the helm since 1977 and the winner of the PEN/Nora Magazine Award for Magazine Editing. Favorites include James Purdy’s brilliant anti-war story “Brawith”, Larry Levis’ poem “Though His Name is Infinite,” Ha Jin’s “The Saboteur,“ Gordon Lish’s ”For Jerome: With Love and Kisses” and Maureen McCoy’s memoir of her father “Vickie’s Pour House: A Soldier’s Tale.”
